I have lived in the southwest for nearly 30 years, this has limited my experience with the full appreciation of the change of seasons. Being in South Dakota during the change of seasons, from winter into spring, has been a remarkable experience. To rise in the morning and see a tree barren of leaves or even the sign of a bud, or a leaf and then to witness, throughout the day, that tree budding, growing new leaves, putting on a new coat of beauty – is truly . . . awesome!
This has been an poignant lesson of – I don’t know what I am missing until I am experiencing what it is that I have been missing! The light breeze, the smell of fresh cut grass, the birth of so much color and beauty – WOW. This is the million dollar jack pot!
Watching grass grow, watching Earth present her most magnificent jewels is something to behold! What a gift! I feel my spirit awakening. I feel a tug as though there is a string between me and Earth – hmmm! A smile comes across my face. What joy to experience!
